Where to Bring Your Dog in KCMO this Patio Season

Patio season is in full swing! Don’t forget to bring your furry friend with you when you’re out and about in Kansas City.

It’s patio season in KCMO! Especially after this past winter, we’ve been waiting for warmer weather and outdoor entertainment for what seemed like ages. Now that temperatures are up it seems like a shame to stay indoors more than you have to, including when you’re eating out. At Summit we love our four-legged residents, and would hate to see them left at home while you’re enjoying the outdoors! Here are some of our favorite local spots that allow, or even encourage, you to bring your furry friends along.

1.       MO’ Brew

Established in 2015, MO’ Brew has quickly become a go-to spot in KCMO. With 26 rotating taps, it’s an obvious place for all types of beer lovers, and the food is just as good as the beer. MO’ Brew gives back to the community and features live, local musicians regularly. They also openly welcome dogs on their outdoor patio, so you can enjoy some pints without leaving your pooch at home.

2.       Quay Coffee

With two locations, one in River Market and one in Nelson Atkins, Quay Coffee has offered a delicious cup of coffee to KCMO since 2012. They may have a simple menu, but that’s because they’re confident in their coffee. They only work with direct trade roasters, so that you can feel good about your caffeine intake. What’s even better, is during the warmer months they have a dog-friendly outdoor seating area. Meet a friend for a cup of coffee, or bring your favorite book and sip on some artisanal joe while your furbaby sunbathes next to you.

3.       Bark at the Park

We love our Royals at Summit on Quality Hill! Did you know there are some opportunities to bring your furry friend to a game, too? Every year the Kansas City Royals host Bark at the Park days, when you get the chance to bring your dog to enjoy an evening of Royals baseball. You do have to preregister, so head over to their website for dates and more details. There are a few requirements and suggestions for the pups, so make sure to read the fine print if you’re unsure about bringing your pooch.

4.       Bar K

If you’re a resident at Summit on Quality Hill you should already be familiar with Bar K, as we’ve partnered with them in the past and have even had some events there! Bar K is a unique KCMO destination that combines a bar, restaurant, and coffeehouse with a dog park! A two-acre off-leash dog park with play structures surround the bar and restaurant area, and trained dog-care professionals are always watching the furry patrons so you can enjoy your meal or drink without having to worry. They’re open seven days a week and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner in addition to regular special events and other programming.

5.       Grinders

Proudly original, Grinders is where food, art, and music collide (and they allow dogs on the patio!). With a constantly rotating beer menu and unique choices for pizza toppings, this KCMO pizza joint brings the east coast to Kansas City. While they pride themselves on the New York-style pizza and Philly cheese steaks, one glance at the menu will tell you these pizzas and grinders are anything but classic. Meet up with some friends for a pint, a slice, or dozen “death wings”, and don’t forget to bring man’s best friend along too!
