Late February can be an odd part of the year. Spring is so close you can almost taste it, but we’re still seeing weather forecasts of snow in the near future. Thankfully winter can’t last forever, so we just need to hunker down for a couple more weeks then we can finally enjoy the downtown Kansas City life. A Star is Born
Unless you’ve been completely off the internet for the past couple months, you’re already aware of the chemistry between Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in A Star is Born. Cooper and Gaga play the stars of this remake of the 1937 film of the same name, and received critical acclaim while doing so. The film is also Cooper’s directorial debut and the duo put on a steamy performance of the original song “Shallow” at the Academy Awards. It received numerous award nominations including five at the 76th Golden Globe Awards and eight at the 91st Academy Awards.

Bohemian Rhapsody
A 2018 biopic about Freddie Mercury, Bohemian Rhapsody follows Mercury from 1970 when he joins Queen to 1985 and their Live Aid performance at the former Wembley Stadium in London. Staring Rami Malek as Mercury, the film received mixed reviews from critics due to its portrayal of Mercury’s life and sexuality, but Malek’s performance and the music sequences were considered a success. It received numerous accolades, being nominated for five Academy Awards (winning four) and two Golden Globes (winning both).

Black Panther
The 18th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Black Panther made waves when it was released in early 2018. It was named one of the Top 10 Films of 2018 by the National Board of Review and American Film Institute, broke numerous box office records, including the highest-grossing films by a black director, and became the ninth-highest-grossing film of all time (third-highest in North America). Based on the Marvel Comics character Black Panther, it was the first film in the MCU to win an Academy Award.

Incredibles 2
The highly-anticipated sequel to the popular 2004 Pixar film The Incredibles, Incredibles 2 was finally released in 2018 to the relief of Millennials everywhere. The film picks up shortly after its predecessor, following the Parr family while they balance family life with restoring the public’s trust in superheroes, all the while fighting a new foe who’s goal is to turn the public against all superheroes. Most of the original voice actors returned to their roles and the film received mostly positive reviews. It set the record for best debut for an animated film its opening weekend and became the second-highest-grossing animated film of all time.

Tag
With the all-star cast of Ed Helms, Jake Johnson, Annabelle Wallis, Hannibal Buress, Isla Fisher, Rashida Jones, Leslie Bibb, Jon Hamm, and Jeremey Renner, Tag is guaranteed to bring some laughs. Based on a true story published in The Wall Street Journal, the film tells the story of four grown men who have been playing a game of tag since they were nine years old. While it didn’t receive high praise from critics, a quote from Rotten Tomatoes says it’s the movie for “audiences seeking a dose of high-concept yet undemanding action comedy.”
